• I sit next to Alissia, the tension in the room finally dissipating as the door closes behind Demitri and Blake. They’re gone, for now. I stretch out on the couch, letting myself relax for the first time tonight.
• She sits beside me, her eyes glancing toward me like she’s sizing me up—probably trying to figure out if she should really be doing this. I can practically feel the questions buzzing in her head.
