• As Demitri steps out of the room, I take a deep breath, collecting myself. The moment he returns with Jenni, reality hits—I completely forgot she was coming tonight. Glancing at the dimly lit windows, it surprises me that the day has already faded into night. I’ve barely processed anything beyond the whirlwind of emotions, intense moments, and laughter that have filled today. I feel myself sway as I stand, and Lucas steadies me, his hand trailing down my leg with a gentle stroke before letting go.
