Chapter 81 Been Present

  • Lucas POV
  • From the moment Blake mentioned grabbing clothes for her, I felt the tension ease in my chest. It was as if a silent understanding passed between us, and I realized with quiet gratitude that he’d taken that essential first step in separating the care for her. I’m used to handling aftercare on my own, so the logistics of three people stepping into that intimate space had me at a bit of a loss. But Blake’s lead gave me clarity. Aftercare wouldn’t be a singular responsibility; it was something we could share, a piece of each of us taking turns to support her. With that in mind, I offered to get food and a drink, each of us ensuring she’d be attended to in our own way.
  • I head to my room, quickly slipping under the shower’s warm stream, a part of me eager not to miss a moment with her. I dress with purpose, my movements swift but focused. When I’m finally ready, I make my way into the kitchen, where the quiet hum of the apartment amplifies the subtle tension in the air. It feels different, heavier somehow, yet grounding. Demitri has been stocking the place with supplies lately, and I’m glad for it. I take out what I need, finding some fresh bread, and begin assembling a sandwich. Something about the routine feels good, almost calming. But I know she’ll need a little extra comfort—a touch of sweetness to ease her back into reality. Plus the sugar will help her. As I search the cupboards, I find a bar of chocolate, break off a few pieces, and arrange them on the plate next to the sandwich.
