Chapter 56 The Light At The End Of The Tunnel

  • Cold wind on my shoulder, chilling as if caressing the wounds left by people whose identity I do not know. I don't' know where I am, who are they, why am I held captive, and what is the cause of all of this. Why me? Why should I? I am almost down to my last breath, heard all curses, received all types of wounds and torture- but one thing- I do not know why. Lossing hope, losing my life. But at the last breath, just as the irony of life-I has seen a dim candle at the end of the tunnel. This fair maiden- I do not know her – but I can see that she is different. Somehow she is familiar, but I cannot pit point where I have seen her. She stopped one of the men when they are about to rape me- when they are asked to rip my clothes – she stopped them. Subtle- I do not know why but she also seemed scared. I do not know why but I can see that she doesn't want them to know ... To know that she felt piety. She doesn't want them to see- but I can see through her. She is my last hope- my last glimpse of light. My last chance. My last .... ___*****___ Wedding bells are ringing. Happy crowds. Joyful smiles. The loud clattering of china. Fine linen, sweet-smelling roses, and expensive wine. It is such a fine day- A fine day To die. To Die. The only thought that Kyle has was to end his life- because that would make him feel better... So much better. As if no one cares. No one asked him. No one even asked for her. Anyway- no one knows. No one cares She has been missing for almost a month now. Three weeks 23 hours and 60 seconds. Torture. A silent tragedy. A war. If he can only speak- can only say something. Can only stop time – at least to even look for her – for the one he loves. But he can't. And because of that- it is better to die. A hand touches him from the back. "smile." The man took a sip of wine. "It's a wedding, not a funeral" It is James. "it seems more of the latter for me," Kyle said in a low tone while sipping his glass of brandy on ice. James gently pats him on the back- Kyle used to hate this man's presence but today it is the most comforting one. "Belinda looks nice," "As usual. Don't worry we will find her" " For me, it is starting to get very dark," A clear tone of sadness mixed with regret and disappointment is obvious in Kyle's voice. "don't be. You might be her only hope," "I am a married man now, a lot of things are changed." "Except for one thing- your heart." "It will never change- it has been and will always be the same. I just hope I can do something." "What else can you do? What more can you do?" James said in a tone that aims to be comforting but it seems to not work on Kyle today. James can see that Kyle is blaming himself- he should have been able to protect Angel- or even at least tell her what is happening. It is such a sad case that Angel just got missing after weeks of not talking with him. "There are so many questions I wanted to ask- so many things that I wanted to do but...but" James grabbed the glass of brandy in Kyle's hands as he can see that the latter is starting to get drunk and being drunk at this state is not the best thing to happen. Kyle refused but the look in James' eyes made him realize that James is saving him from the disaster that is about to happen if he will not stop drinking now. Amidst the crowd, there are sets of eyes who are looking closely as the groom behaves not as one but as a person who had lost someone today. As if it is not his wedding but his funeral, where he is invited as a guest. Among those sets of eyes are Samantha's, questioning if she did the right thing- if this is what she wanted. Love. Love? Is it love? Did she love this person or was she also just a part of the game? A game that was played by their parents, by those who are more influential and powerful than them. "Are you okay? Samantha heard a warm sweet voice from the back of her head along with a light touch of a soft hand on her shoulders. "Yes I am fine," Samantha said with a smile. "It's fine." The person said with a smile. There is something with her that made Samantha at ease- a person who can make you feel as if you can tell her anything. They look at each other for several seconds and then this person said... "by the way, I am Belinda I a friend of Kyle's friend you see there?" Belinda pointed at James and Kyle who is having a serious talk at the farthest table. Samantha genuinely smiled as Belinda reaches out her hand. A hand-shake. Target lock. ______***_______ "The wedding is done, we do not need her anymore" Stacy heard her father say in a cold tone- as if asking someone to load the garbage to the trucks. Garbage, not a human! And Stacy knows what will truly happen tonight and she made if her mind to at least give hope because her conscience cannot stand it but she also knows better than to stay in the way of her father's plans- she knows better. The night before the wedding- Stacy knows what will happen or at least she had a hint of what will it be. In the middle of the cold night, when Stacy's father is out and she volunteered to feed Angel in candlelight, not in any way romantic. It is chilling. But the sight Stacy saw is what brings chills to her bones. "Why are you doing this to me?" Angel refused to eat the bread that Stacy is giving her. "Eat!" Stacy pushed the bread inside her mouth. One bite- Angel felt something hard and as she rolled her tongue it felt like a key. Their eyes locked. "you need to wait, waiting is crucial." Angel did not say a thing. "This is all I can do, I cannot do more I also need to save myself." Angel was right- she was able to see through this person who seems to be familiar to her but she cannot recall who. Stacy touched Angel's face as if trying to apologize and then grabbed her hair from the back. But this time, it hurts less because this time Angel understands. Timing is crucial, yes timing is crucial.
