Chapter 50 Point Of No Return

  • "Where are you?" Said the person on the other line as Samantha answers her phone. She calmly answered the call purposely said the name Kyle in front of Angel and made sure she heard it just to make her point across. Samantha hung up the call and, it was Stacy and drove a block away from Angel's place before she was able to properly breathe. Samantha placed her head on top of the steering wheel and cried. It is not easy, no one wants to be the villain, the bitch, or the hated one. But what can she do, this feeling she has is too strong, a powerful feeling that can push anyone to be selfish. Is this really love? Samantha questions herself as she cried her heart out inside her expensive car on the side of the road. People from the outside might think she had it all when all she wanted is to be loved and yet that small favor seems to be too much for her to ask. Samantha almost forgot about Stacy if she did not send a text brigade and forced her to meet her the ended up meeting at Samantha's house since Samantha seems to be too tired today. If she had a chance to turn back time she would have driven to Stacy's house or just met her at the coffee shop if she knew the trouble Stacy's visit would cause. "Your house is nice, elegant it matches you," Empty words coming from Stacy just to break the ice. Samantha showed a faint smile just to return the favor. "So? Who is she?" Stacy cannot hide the eagerness and enthusiasm in her tone, as if she had found the missing piece for her puzzle that she cannot finish ten years ago. Samantha looked at Stacy in the eye, as if reading her thoughts. She knows that the information she has is too powerful and it might put people in danger – she is not sure if her greediness is up to that extent putting people in danger Stacy did not know that Samantha knew so much about her, she thought Samantha is just this simple-minded naïve girl from a riches family and she can never be more wrong. Samantha is from the top one percent, yes, and by that, it meant that she studied in the top schools met high-class people – She is so used to being with people in power and how these high-class individuals are so used to being the chameleon in the wild. Not the lion as they really are but a chameleon who changes color and hide their true identity. No one knows their next move nor their real intentions. Samantha is just like that, she put on a mask of innocence when she is with Kyle and Stacy, making them believe that she is on her side. That is will follow your decisions, that she is trustworthy, naïve, and simple-minded when the truth is she already have you dancing on the palm of her hands. She knows a lot about everyone, their deepest desires, and fears and the things they do not want anyone else to know about- a secret that they would bring to death with them just in case. "So? Who is she?" Stacy repeated the question as Samantha did not answer the first time. Samantha just smiled, took a sip of her tea, and calmly said," Who?" then looked back to Stacy, "I am not sure I know who we are talking about," "So you do not want to tell me?" Stacy is losing the last strand of her already short temper. "It all depends on your answer, what are your plans, what would you do if I really know who she is?" This time, Stacy's view of Samantha is becoming clearer. She knows that tables have turned and that she had underestimated her. Stacy can see clearer, the view in front of her and it is not of a simple-minded socialite but a smart woman who calculates her steps and who knows the value of negotiation. An epiphany that might have been too late to have and just like playing Chess, Stacy is not seeing that Samantha opponent, the player on the other side- she knows she need to pick her moves carefully if she would want to win the game or even just to have the slightest chance of not being left mid-game. "I am not sure, Do you have a plan?" Stacy's tone is clearly changed and Samantha can hear it clearly. "I do have a plan and maybe if it will not work we can use yours instead. But until then, I don't think knowing who she is would benefit you at all. I mean you just like you said you don't even have a plan and remember moving without a vision would not benefit any of us at all I am not specifically fond of clearing messes done by other people," Even though Samantha said it with a smile her tone and message are clear just like a queen who shares her thoughts in the presence of her constitutions, calm but stern and clear. Stacy is about to leave the afternoon tea when she asked where is the comfort room, Samantha is not used to having visitors that she just gave instructions to Stacy in faith that she would find her way, being the smart doctor that she is, in the wide halls of the mansion. And she did find her way, not to the comfort room but to the room where the secrets have been hidden. Samantha forgot to close the door of her room when she hastily drove to Angel's apartment. Her mind was so occupied to think of the door and the pictures laying on the bed. And just like that, it seemed that destiny decided to play a little game. Stacy went inside the open room as she saw the pictures laying on the bed. For some reason, something seems to be pulling her inside. The door slowly creaks as she comes inside One step. Two Steps. Samantha slowly realizes her mistake and ran towards her room. What happened next changed the course of things to the point of no return.
