Chapter 51 Where And Why

• It has been weeks since Kyle was able to reach Angel. Never did she open the door for him nor did she answer any of her calls and messages. Give me some space, some time to think things through. This is the only message that Angel sent all this time, and though Kyle does not know what is happening he chose to follow and understand. But tonight is different, tonight he cannot hold on any longer. Kyle called Angel once again, crossing his fingers that she would answer this time and she finally did! Kyle's heart is racing, he dialed the number with nothing in mind though he wished Angel would answer. "How..how are you?" Kyle mumbles. On the other line was silence, Kyle moved the phone away from his ears and tried to check if the call hasn't ended yet and it didn't Angel is still there. It was soo silent that Kyle asked if something is wrong, "I am fine, meet me at my Seoul Apartment tonight, 10pm," Angel said in a low stern tone and then hang up the call. Kyle is confused and upset at the same time, he doesn't have any idea what is going but he can clearly feel that something is wrong. He is still deep in his thoughts that he did not realize that Steven is inside his room looking at him. "Knock, Knock," Steven said, half trying to get Kyle's attention while the other half is aimed at distracting Kyle at his thoughts which clearly paints an unpleasant scenario on his face-whatever his thoughts might be. Kyle signaled Steven to come in and asked him what is the purpose of his visit in a formal tone that clearly tries hard how annoyed he is by the latter's presence. "You treat me as if I am a plague, it hurts a bit," Steven said jokingly. "Because you always carry an unpleasant message," Kyle responded sarcastically if he only knew how Steven really felt while looking at him a while back when Steven can clearly see the confusion and sadness on his face. "I can't deny that fact," Steven tried to hide his feelings and said this in a playful tone as he walks towards Kyle and give him another invitation that made Kyle's day worst and his problems doubled. "A marriage invitation?! But we are not even done with the engagement yet and ..." Steven cut Kyle's midsentence and gave him a glass of cold water. He has been around him so much that he already knows what to do and what to give Kyle at these troublesome times. "The adults decided to cut the ceremonies and go directly with marriage," Kyle tried to reason but Steven looked at him in the eyes full of piety as he walks towards the small chessboard display accumulating dust on one of Kyle's shelves in the office. Steven moved the forgotten pieces of what has been the sole comfort Kyle and him have long ago when they are both younger than they are right now. "Do you know what is the most powerful chess piece? " Steven asked Kyle that made the latter cross his eyebrows but still responded. "I am not sure, the King? Because once it is captured the game has ended?" Kyle answered while still looking at the new invitation handed to him. "Engg, wrong. The Most Powerful Piece is the queen."Steven said while holding the queen up and looking at Kyle who is looking back at him now utterly confused with what he is talking about and what is the connection of I to his problems. "Because the queen can move both diagonal and strait to protect her king, used wisely you can will the game, use it improperly and then you loose- know who your queen is. "Steven winked after saying the last sentence as he puts the queen on Kyle's hands and walked out. Still confused, Kyle looked at the queen, pondering about what Steven said as he watch his back leave his room. ----------- It is time. 10Pm on the clock and Kyle is hurrying out of the churchyard where they rehearsed the engagement that had turned into a wedding overnight. He practically flew over to the meeting place not realizing that Samantha had secretly followed him around- ready to remove her mask that she has been wearing every time Kyle is around. And they both waited. Thirty minutes of waiting became an hour. Kyle cannot reach Angel and Samantha almost fell asleep. Kyle finally decided that waiting inside his car is in vain and that he would come inside the apartment and confront her. But when Kyle finally went out of his car, Angel's words hunted him Give me some space, some time to think things through those words made Kyle hesitate and whispered" Just another 30 minutes and then I will get inside the apartment" But Kyle, later on, realized that that thirty minute was such a waste when he decided to walk towards the apartment and grasped that the door was open and it was too dark inside. Kyle called Angel's name repeatedly as he rushed to the room and every corner of the place but it was all in vain, Angel is not there. Kyle's hands trembled as her heart and head ran wild in the presence of the current situation, realizing that Angel is nowhere to be found and that the house is in such a mess. Troubles in his head, horses on his chest- Kyle did know where to start- where to find the one he loves. Samantha can closely watch Kyle's agony. She is annoyed by the fact that even though she is not fully sad at the moment. Samantha is stressed because a part of her brain wishes Angel to be not seen anymore because maybe with her missing she would stand a chance. Because maybe she can win Kyle's heart. But the other part of her heart is still there, is still the Samantha who would not wish harm of others and because of her heart splitting between two Samantha can only ask a question in silence as she watches Kyle act insanely inside Angel's apartment in Seoul, Where is Angel?
