Chapter 38

• Everyone's attention was drawn back to the video. Someone stepped out of one of the doors in the hallway. On closer look, and thanks to the brightness, everyone could see it was Meredith. She seemed to be waiting for someone. Footsteps could be heard, and someone approached from behind her. I recognised the face of the man. It was the same guy I saw earlier who stood behind Meredith and Gabriella. What happened next stunned everyone. Meredith and the guy embraced and engaged in a short makeout. I took my eyes off the video of Meredith, who stood rooted to the floor in shock. The man behind her was sweating bullets, and I saw his hand shiver. Gabriella looked both confused and shocked.
• "Ladies and gentlemen." Theo turned to the crowd. "That's your beta right there." He pointed to the man behind Meredith. "Quinn. My so-called right-hand man, who is supposed to help in running the pack, But hold on; it gets better."
• He gestured to the video, and we watched and listened to the words from the audio.
