• Dan winked at me from the stage as I made my way out. The cheers from the men could still be heard when I went backstage. I pulled out the roughly squeezed notes from my bra and thong and counted them. I grinned in satisfaction. Today I broke another record. Probably because a celebrity showed up. One of those popular musicians whose name I didn't know or care to know. I had seen his face in TV shows. That was just about it. I took a deep breath, and my thoughts wandered.
• Two weeks. It had been two weeks since I got fired from my job at the restaurant. I had not heard from or seen Theo or even that cum dumpster, Meredith, since that time. It seemed like they had just vanished from the earth. As much as it irked me, I was still concerned about Theo's sudden absence. As much as I wanted to deny it, he was still my mate.
