Chapter 25
- I kept my eyes focused on the couple a few distance from us as Dimitri spun me and returned me back.
- As I suspected and feared, Eric had Lucy in his arms, and they danced along to the rhythm of the music. I gazed at the crowd of werewolves, and Theo still hadn't emerged. I sighed, and then my eyes landed on Meredith. She had finally noticed my presence. Good for her. She, along with Gabriella, scanned me from head to toe, and I saw the sneer on their faces. I sent a smirk to them in return. Meredith was probably feeling threatened by my dressing compared to hers. The fact that I hadn't seen her near Theo since I stepped in the ball made everything sweet for me. My grin then vanished and was replaced with a frown when I spotted Lucy giggling as Eric spinned her. They were lost in conversation, staring into each other's eyes and chuckling at intervals. I still didn't understand the whole thing. They were acting like long-lost lovers.
- It was so weird. I could remember when we were younger, and Eric stated several times to Mom how he disliked Lucy because she was such a bully. Mom and I would just laugh at this, and Mom would further tease him that a woman only bullied a guy she liked. Eric had wrinkled his little nose in disgust, and it was quite comical. I remembered one of his comments then. Bullies like Lucy would never have a husband. I had jumped in her defence, and it would lead to one of those numerous sibling squabbles that mom had to diffuse.
