Chapter 9 She Is Missing

  • Becca's limp body was gently placed into the car by Kai's loyal men. Tony hastily settled into the passenger seat and wasted no time in reaching for his phone to contact Kai.
  • "What's the situation?" came Kai's voice, its frosty tone as unwavering as ever. "We have her. We're on route back home," Tony replied, sensing the weight of Kai's silent sigh on the other end. "Good. Bring her back," Kai responded before ending the call. Tony then turned to the driver, giving a curt nod to proceed.
  • Meanwhile, at Maverick's opulent mansion, Mr. Maverick found himself inundated with well-wishers and curious guests, all eager to congratulate him and inquire about his daughter.
  • For the umpteenth time, he repeated, "She's on her way home," to yet another individual. Alan, standing nearby, engaged in conversation with a friend, his expression a mix of happiness and concern. With a heavy sigh, Mr. Maverick reached for his phone, his fingers trembling slightly as he dialed Becca's number. With each fruitless attempt, frustration grew within him. "Come on, Becca, what's going on?" he muttered under his breath, redialing once more.
  • Alan, noticing Becca’s father's distress, approached him with worry etched across his face. "Father, any word from her? Everyone is waiting," he conveyed, his voice tinged with fear. "Stay calm, she'll be here soon. I don't understand why she isn't picking up her phone," Mr. Maverick replied wearily, his sigh echoing through the room. Alan stood, arms crossed, surveying the crowd with a furrowed brow. "But even if she's driving, she would answer my call," he mumbled, voicing his underlying concerns. Mr. Maverick shared his Alan’s unease, feeling the weight of uncertainty hanging over them. "Let me reach out to Bianca and see if she has any information," he decided, dialing Bianca's number with a mix of hope and trepidation.
  • “Is she picking up?” Alan asked
  • “No, oh my goodness.” Mr. Maverick breathed out of frustration.
  • Maverick's mansion was bustling with laughter, music, and animated conversations as the grand engagement party for Alan and Becca commenced. The opulent halls were adorned with elegant decorations, and a sense of joy permeated the air. Guests mingled, exchanging well-wishes and raising their glasses in celebration.
  • As time ticked by, the absence of the guest of honor, Becca, began to raise eyebrows. It started with a casual inquiry from a family friend, followed by concerned whispers amongst the guests. Maverick, oblivious to his daughter's disappearance, continued to greet and engage with his esteemed friends and business partners. However, with each new query about Becca's whereabouts, a sense of unease started to weave its way into his heart.
  • Alan, too, found himself growing increasingly anxious. What started as a momentary distraction turned into a gnawing worry that settled deep within him. He excused himself from his conversations, attempting to discreetly search for Becca, hoping to find her laughing among the crowd or lost in a blissful moment of conversation.
  • But Becca was nowhere to be found.
  • The initial concern gave way to frustration and annoyance among the guests. Whispers traveled through the room, filled with speculations and questions. The jovial atmosphere had morphed into one of tension and confusion, casting a shadow over the festivities.
  • “I do not understand, where is your daughter Mr. Maverick?” a friend of his asked
  • “I have no idea, I am so confused right now.” He replied
  • “Then let’s go to her, she went to the store nearby isn’t it? I will go find her.” Alan replied
  • Maverick's eyes darted anxiously around the room, seeking any clues or hints that might lead him to his missing daughter. He reached for his phone, intending to call Becca, only to be met with silence as his calls went unanswered. His worry grew exponentially, fueling an urgency to unravel the mystery surrounding Becca's sudden vanishing act.
  • Alan and Maverick exchanged glances, their shared fear palpable. It was not like Becca to disappear without a word, especially during such an important occasion. They knew in their hearts that something was amiss – an instinct that went beyond the typical worries of a father and fiancé.
  • “Yes, we should go find her.” He replied
  • Together, they gathered their closest confidants, trusted friends who had stood by them through thick and thin. In hushed tones, they relayed their concerns, urging their allies to help uncover Becca's whereabouts.
  • As the night wore on, the once joyous celebration transformed into a mission to locate and bring Becca back safely. Maverick's mansion became a hub of activity as phone calls were made, contacts were reached out to, and a collective effort was set into motion. The once-patient guests joined forces, determined to unravel the mystery that shrouded Becca's disappearance.
  • At the store,
  • Bianca stepped outside, her apron securely tied around her waist as she carried a bag of trash in her hands. As she made her way towards the bin to empty it, she noticed a commotion across the road.
  • Curious, she shrugged and muttered to herself, "Huh?" But before she could walk away, her eyes caught sight of Becca's car still parked outside the store. "What? I thought you had already left," she chuckled, making her way towards the car only to find it empty. Confused, she called out, "Becca?" but received no response.
  • As she looked around, her feet accidentally kicked something metal on the ground, causing her to yelp in pain. To her surprise, she saw that it was Becca's car keys.
  • Gasping, she reached down and picked them up, tucking them into her apron for safekeeping.
  • She then took out her phone to call Becca but noticed several missed calls from Becca's father displayed on the screen. Immediately, she dialed his number and he answered within seconds.
  • "Bianca?" he said anxiously. "Sir, is your daughter with you? She left her car and keys here," Bianca explained. "What?" Mr. Maverick exclaimed, clearly alarmed.
  • At that moment, Bianca heard a woman scream from across the road, "Ahhh! He's dead, someone shot him!" Her heart skipped a beat as she processed the shocking news. "What?" Mr. Maverick exclaimed again. Overwhelmed, Bianca cried softly, "Sir, I have no idea what's going on here." Mr. Maverick added, "We can't find Becca. She's not at home and she's not answering her calls." Distraught, Bianca asked,
  • "She left about 20 minutes ago, sir. Are you saying she's been kidnapped?" "Bianca, Becca is missing," Mr. Maverick confirmed.
