Chapter 26 Forget What We Had

  • At Kai's luxurious mansion, his cutting words stabbed deep into her heart, causing her to swallow hard and force a smile onto her face. "And how do you expect me to say that to the man I was supposed to marry?" she retorted, scoffing at Kai's nonchalant shrug. "Forget everything you had with him and tell him you're perfectly fine!" he yelled, causing her to flinch slightly as she furrowed her brows in disbelief. "Are you going to make this call or not? I will hand the phone back to your father, and if things don't go my way, consider your beloved father gone. You have—" Her interruption cut through his threatening words immediately. "Fine!" Becca exclaimed, her frustration evident. Unfazed by her outburst, Kai maintained his fake smile. "As I mentioned before, no emotions should be involved. You better remain cold and end the call," he warned sternly as he turned back to proceed with the call.
  • On the other end, Mr. Maverick's voice chimed in, "Okay, he's already here. I'll just let him know I'm on a call with Becca." Hearing Maverick's words, Kai shot Becca one final warning look, prompting her to roll her eyes and avert her gaze.
  • Meanwhile, back at Mr. Maverick's elegant mansion, Alan entered the house with a gentle, courteous smile gracing his face. "Father," he called out warmly, causing Mr. Maverick to release a soft sigh. "Oh dear," he replied, setting his phone aside. "I apologize for barging in like that. Please forgive my lack of manners," Alan humbly apologized, bowing slightly. Mr. Maverick waved his hands dismissively. "No need to apologize, son. It's perfectly fine," he reassured, gesturing for Alan to take a seat.
