Chapter 28 A Rule

• At Kai’s opulent mansion, Becca shut her eyes tightly, hoping it would break the kiss, but Kai already pulled away as he let go of her hand with a heavy breath. “I guess that should be enough to shut you up,” he said as he got down from the bed, leaving Becca lying still with a heavy breath. Her eyes fixed on the ceiling above her, Becca muttered to herself, “What just happened?” She squeezed the duvet in her hands before rolling to the other side of the bed, frustration evident on her face. “Shutting me up with a kiss?” she hissed as she brushed the back of her palm against her lips. “You piece of shit!” Becca cussed beneath her breath as she sat back up on the bed, scanning the room. At that moment, she felt lost and agitated. “I wonder how Alan would be feeling right now if not betrayed. You even had the guts to kiss me on the phone, ugh!" she yelled angrily.
• Meanwhile, Kai was already seated in his room on one of the couches, holding a glass of vodka in his hands. He contemplated the next steps for the day, and his thoughts drifted to his father who resided in Italy. Just then, a soft knock was heard on the door, and he set down his glass. “Tony? Is that you?” he asked. “Yes, it is,” Tony replied, and Kai smiled before inviting him in, saying, “Please come in; the door is open.” Tony stepped in, slowly tucking his hands into his pocket and taking a deep breath. “How are things going between you and Becca?” he asked Kai. Kai stared at the glass in his hand for some time before looking up at Tony to reply, “She is crazy. I am not going to, but I will handle her. She would definitely fall for me and forget that bastard called Alan.” He paused, and Tony shrugged. “Are you doing all this because of Alan being her fiancé?” “Alan ‘was’ her fiancé, and not anymore, Tony. I never knew about her and Alan being a thing before – let’s just say this is fate.” “That she is not destined to be with Alan, huh? Well, I agree with you. With time, Becca would definitely realize who is best for her,” Tony responded, and Kai raised his glass to him. “Exactly, you get the point!” “So, since she would be spending about 3 months with you as your 'thing,' what other plans do we have in place?” Tony asked as he walked to the couch opposite Kai to sit. Kai clicked his tongue before he shrugged and replied, “The family business and, of course, to take our revenge on Alan. That idiot! I can’t believe Mr. Maverick doesn’t know what type of man he was about to give his daughter to.” Kai shook his head, feeling a sense of pity. “It amazes me how no one has come to notice that Alan is not what he seems to be—” tony said but Kai interrupted his statement.
• “But an idiot!” he said with a finger raised and Tony nodded, “Of course and idiot but something more than that. I mean with what went on among the three of us, I feel that bastard is more than what he was during high school.” Tony said lowly and Kai squinted his eyes at the glass in his hands.
