Chapter 25 The Phone Call

• At Kai's grand mansion, after returning to his luxurious room just a few steps away from Becca's quarters, he effortlessly reached for the telephone to summon one of the diligent maidens from the kitchen. "Kindly fetch Becca her breakfast," he kindly instructed the attentive maiden. Her head nodded in acknowledgment as she swiftly responded, "Yes, boss. What should I prepare for her?" Kai paused for a moment, contemplating the perfect meal to satiate Becca's appetite. "Anything delicious will suffice, but do add a generous serving of milk," he concluded before courteously ending the call.
• Letting out a gentle sigh, he ambled towards the balcony that overlooked the expansive grounds of his opulent estate. As his hands rested on the elegant railings, his gaze wandered over the meticulously manicured gardens and ornamental fountains that adorned his surroundings. Lost in thought, his mind drifted to Mr. Maverick's recent request. "This wise old man seeks my assistance... Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to offer my help," he pondered aloud, deliberating the potential consequences and benefits of his involvement.
• Meanwhile, Mr. Maverick found himself seated in the comfort of his tastefully decorated living room, wearied by the anticipation of Alan's impending visit. Alan had previously contacted him, expressing his intent to ask about Becca once more. The mere thought of having to explain his situation to Alan again weighed heavily on his mind. As his weary eyes glanced at the silent phone resting upon the table, he summoned the courage to dial Kai william’s number. "Please, just pick up this once," he implored, inhaling deeply as he brought the phone to his left ear. Several rings echoed through the receiver, but there was no response. He swallowed hard, redialing Kai’s number with a tinge of frustration. "Why are you making it so difficult, Kia?" he groaned, his voice carrying a hint of disappointment and exasperation. In an attempt to regain composure, he took a long, steady breath, hoping for a connection to bridge the growing gap between himself and Kai.
