Chapter 8 I Slept With Him

  • “It’s a shame that I had to trouble you to take care of my woman when she is ill, Director Seymore.” Mark’s gaze casually landed on Eris for about three seconds before he turned to Liam beside.
  • “I’m afraid that what you had me do on your behalf is not only taking care of your woman, Director Fuller.” A shadow of a smile played by Liam’s lips as he was looking at Mark with hints of sarcasm in his gaze.
  • Mark coldly replied without showing much reaction, “I’m sorry for the trouble, Director Seymore. Since I’m here now, I don’t need you to continue to be concerned about this matter. May I ask you to take your leave and give us husband and wife some space to spend some time alone with each other, Director Seymore?”
  • Liam shrugged indifferently and darted a glance at Eris in a gaze that seemed rather suggestive while the latter raised her head and met his gaze. Her eyes were calm, showing no emotions.
  • “I shall take my leave now. Remember me and my name as well—I’m Liam Seymore.” He really did not like the woman calling another man’s name when she was in bed with him.
  • After saying his words, he rose to his feet and left the ward.
  • When he was brushing past Mark, Liam paused in his tracks and whispered, “I have to admit that you have a fine taste this time. If there is a time when you no longer want this woman, kindly let me know in advance. I’m quite interested in her.”
  • With that, he pushed the door open and left the ward, ignoring what Mark had to feel about his remark.
  • The ward instantly fell silent.
  • Eris leaned against the headboard while her deadpan gaze rested at a corner of the ward. She seemed to have no intention to speak.
  • “You didn’t go home for three days.” Mark lifted his foot and walked toward her. His tall figure blocked the rays of sunlight that initially landed on her, which made her feel a little cold.
  • She raised her head and glanced at him. The man’s expression was as cold and hard as usual. His facial features were chiseled and well-defined and his gaze was nonchalant, which gave nothing away.
  • Eris sneered and asked provocatively, “Does it make a difference whether I am home or not? Or rather, when have you ever cared about where I am?”
  • Upon hearing her words, Mark slightly frowned and murmured in an upset manner, “You are still the Young Mistress of the Fuller Family. So,no matter what you do—”
  • “I know my position as the Young Mistress of the Fuller Family. Even if we are just husband and wife in name and I’m merely a puppet wife, I still have to play my part and never do anything that will bring disgrace upon you, Director Fuller. If you are here just to say these words, you have made your point and may leave now.”
  • It was the first time Eris spoke with Mark with such a harsh tone.
  • She had always been a woman who was as gentle as water; she never complained and would always try her best to behave like how she was supposed to.
  • Eris’ words undeniably aroused some strange emotions in him. “Liam and you—”
  • With anger in her eyes, she glared at Mark and growled through gritted teeth, “It was just as you thought—I had sex with him. If you want to divorce me, please arrange a lawyer to draft the divorce papers as soon as possible. I won’t take a single penny from you.”
  • Mark peered unblinkingly at her and remained quiet for some time. After a while, he calmly uttered, “Liam is not as simple as he seems. Stay away from him.”
  • “I don’t need you to worry about this. This is my affair. Director Fuller, do you need anything else? If not, please leave. I’m tired and I need to rest,” She interrupted him impolitely once again.
  • Eris despised Mark’s sudden concern for her.
  • He had no feelings for her, yet he kept using this sort of despicable attitude that gave her the wrong idea. It made her think that she still had a chance with him, but she sank deeper in the sinkhole instead.
  • “Come home with me tomorrow. My parents would like to meet you.”
