Chapter 12 Substitute

  • Georgia refrained from commenting about certain things but that didn’t mean that others would extend the same courtesy.
  • Aria sneered while staring at Eris’ face, which she found utterly disgusting.
  • On the other hand, the color drained from Eris’ face when she heard Aria’s comment.
  • “Aria, stop with the nonsense! You should judge the room even if you wish to speak your mind. Also, never bring up that name again from now on. You know very well that Mark…” Georgia glanced at Eris after saying that but she didn’t complete her sentence.
  • Eris felt awful because she could vaguely tell that Natasha must have had a relationship with Mark in the past. However, I am in no position to question why they didn't end up together because Aria and Georgia will never tell me the truth. But… What if I were to ask Mark myself? Well, even Georgia and Aria don’t dare to bring up this woman in front of him. I can see that she must be a subject of taboo to him, so I probably shouldn't get myself in trouble by asking him unnecessary questions.
  • Aria pouted and she proceeded to mock Eris. However, she was bored after a while since Eris did not respond to her. In the end, she found a reason to excuse herself.
  • It was obvious that Georgia wasn’t planning on building a relationship with Eris because from her point of view, the latter was just one of the many women to bear the next generation for the Fuller Family. Somebody else would do it if it weren’t Eris, so it was all the same to Georgia.
  • Finally, Eris was left alone in the living room.
  • At that moment, she had the illusion of returning to the home she shared with Mark. It’s all the same—a large house that feels lifeless and empty, just like a huge cage.
  • After sitting there for a while, she felt slightly depressed because everybody was ignoring her. Therefore, she walked out of the main door to take a stroll around the garden.
  • The Fuller Residence had a large garden, and there were countless precious and rare varieties of plants, flowers and trees everywhere.
  • However, Eris wasn’t well versed with such things and she couldn’t even name them.
  • “Miss Harlow, why are you…” Just as Eris was strolling around in the garden, a shocked and surprised voice rang out from behind her.
  • Eris turned around when she heard that, but the person shut up immediately when they got a good look at her face.
  • “Do you know me?” Eris blurted out while observing the woman who was in her early thirties.
  • The woman shook her head and mumbled, “Oh—no, no. I have mistaken you for someone else.”
  • Upon hearing that, Eris thought to herself, Judging by her clothing, she should be a servant of the Fuller Residence and she looks like she’s been working here for a very long time.
  • “Who is Miss Harlow?” Eris asked curiously after a pause.
  • “No one, Young Mistress Fuller. I am mistaken.” The woman then waved her hand hastily before turning around to leave in a hurry.
  • Eris was even more suspicious at that point. It seems like everybody in the Fuller Family knows Natasha Harlow. Who is she? What is her relationship with Mark?
  • Eris had countless questions but nobody could answer her doubts.
  • She walked around the garden and she realized that all servants in the Fuller Residence were looking at her strangely, as if they had just seen a ghost.
  • This happened a few times and she lost the mood to stroll around. Therefore, she went back into the house to wait for Mark to send her back after he was done with his discussion, all the while oblivious to the stiff and tense atmosphere in Theodore’s study at that moment.
  • “Natasha’s current status is different from before. You should have been more careful even if you two wanted to see each other. You have thoroughly disappointed me, Mark! Did you truly think that you’d fool everyone else just by marrying another woman?” Theodore tossed a folder in front of Mark.
  • A few photographs slipped out of the folder, all showcasing Mark and Natasha together.
