Chapter 13 Am I Your Tool?

  • Mark regarded the scattered photographs on the table coldly as he narrowed his eyes. “A few pictures do not prove anything.”
  • “It doesn’t prove anything? The issue here is that you two shared a room together and you were in each other’s arms! How can this not prove anything? Have you ever thought of the consequences if these were to leak out?” Theodore wanted nothing more than to charge forward and beat him up. Mark, on the other hand, maintained an indifferent attitude. “I will resolve it if something crops up.”
  • Theodore was boiling in anger at this point but his hands were tied.
  • “Find the right time to announce your marriage with Eris. I do not want people spreading rumors about you! You have to remember that the consequences are severe if your relationship with Natasha were to be exposed due to her current status, so you’d better not act recklessly anymore!” Theodore thundered and he sighed wearily; he was truly helpless when it involved his son.
  • Mark remained silent while gathering the photos on the table, thereafter placing them in the pocket of his coat.
  • He then paused before turning around to state calmly, “I shall head back now if there is nothing else. I will arrange for a time to hold a press conference to announce my relationship with Eris, and I will reveal her status.” With that, he walked out of the door without a backward glance.
  • Eris just so happened to enter the house from the garden when Mark came down the stairs.
  • She had a leaf stuck to the top of her head but she hadn’t noticed it when she entered the house.
  • The minute she looked up, she caught sight of Mark staring intently at her from the top of the stairs, causing her to blush deeply. “Has the meeting ended?”
  • Mark suddenly snapped back to his senses and he hummed as he nodded, thereafter walking down the stairs to make his way straight toward Eris.
  • She stood rooted to the spot while staring at him moving toward her, but she just couldn’t react.
  • It wasn’t until he stopped right in front of her while raising a hand that she asked nervously, “W-What are you doing?”
  • Mark glanced at her sideways while plucking the leaf out of her hair. “Why are you so silly?”
  • Mark’s tone wasn’t tender but it was most probably the gentlest he had treated her throughout so many years.
  • Upon hearing that, Eris felt tears stinging her eyes and they almost rolled down her cheeks. She turned away unnaturally while answering him in a muffled voice, “I didn’t notice it.”
  • “Let’s go home,” Mark murmured and he stared at her for a long time before finally reaching out to hold her hand. Eris had a stunned expression when he led her out of the house, and her mind went blank because she had no idea what was happening.
  • Why is Mark suddenly being so flirty toward me? What’s happening? Does he feel threatened after I slept with Liam and he realizes that he has feelings for me after all?
  • Eris’ thoughts were all over the place but she allowed Mark to lead her out of the main door. She was in such a daze that she did not realize that they hadn’t left the Fuller Residence by car. It was only when they were at the main entrance that she noticed the chauffeur and the car parked right in front of them.
  • Lucas hurriedly opened the door for them. Mark then glanced at Eris, who seemed to be in a trance. He raised his hand to flick her forehead lightly. “Why are you spacing out? Aren’t you getting into the car?”
  • Tears were brimming in Eris’ eyes as she stared at him in a daze, and she blurted out a question before thinking it through. “Mark, why are you suddenly so nice to me?”
