Chapter 15 The Mistress Is Kicking up a Fuss

  • Mark wasn’t considered famous because he was just an entrepreneur. This time, however, his secret marriage caused an uproar and it started trending on major social websites, whereas Eris became famous overnight too.
  • Somewhere in an open-space apartment on the 18th floor of Celestial Bay, a woman’s face turned as pale as a sheet. There were newspapers and magazines scattered all around with news regarding Mark and Eris, and the laptop in front of her was switched on; similarly, it showcased a photo of the couple.
  • The two of them appeared intimate and natural in the picture, especially Mark’s gaze as he looked at Eris. There is no way I’d misinterpret this look—he clearly has deep feelings for her.
  • Upon coming to that thought, she started coughing violently and her face turned even paler now.
  • She reached out a trembling hand for her cell phone, which had dropped onto the ground, and made a call.
  • The phone call connected swiftly and Mark’s anxious voice came over the line, “Natasha?”
  • “M-Mark…” Natasha only managed to call out for Mark’s name before everything went pitch-black for her as she promptly fainted.
  • On the other end of the line, Mark noticed the sudden silence and his expression changed drastically. He did not give two hoots about the shareholders and senior executives present. Instead, he got up abruptly to leave the conference room.
  • “What is it?”
  • “What is happening?”
  • “How can he leave without a valid explanation?”
  • The shareholders were clearly upset while exchanging looks with each other because they weren’t sure what was happening.
  • “Head to Celestial Bay straight away,” Mark instructed his assistant, Hank, right after walking out of the conference room.
  • Hank nodded and he phoned Lucas immediately.
  • Mark arrived at Celestial Bay after half an hour and Natasha had woken up by then. Her face was pale, and she was sitting on the floor as she dazedly stared at the photo in front of her without uttering a word.
  • “Natasha?” Mark briskly walked over to her in concern, and he crouched down to wrap an arm around her shoulders.
  • He scanned the newspapers and magazines scattered on the floor by accident before he stared at the laptop screen. He froze, suddenly realizing what had happened.
  • He carefully helped Natasha up from the floor to sit on the couch. Then, he reached out to check her temperature. “What happened?”
  • “I’m scared, Mark. Are you in love with her?” Natasha clung onto Mark’s clothes, her demeanor weak and frail.
  • Mark’s heart melted as he caressed her back softly, trying to sooth her emotions. “What are you thinking? Why would I fall in love with her?”
  • Natasha pointed at the picture on her laptop screen and she bit her lower lip as she asked in a shaky voice, “In that case, what’s with this news?”
  • Mark sighed helplessly before he explained everything to Natasha, his voice serious. “The paparazzi captured photos of us together. Old Master Fuller came forward to suppress the news temporarily but this matter will not be hidden for long. It will impact you negatively if this matter were to be exposed to the public. Do you understand the reason why I’ve chosen this timing to make my relationship with Eris public all of a sudden?”
  • “Really?” Natasha felt relieved upon hearing that, but she was still worried.
  • “You know how I feel about you and that has never changed. I will never fall for Eris. I married her back then just to deceive everyone.”
