Chapter 9 Avery & Drake
- AVERY
- Disgust clings to me, wrapping around my body like this Dolce and Gabbana dress. Hayden’s touch making me wish for an acid bath. The only way to erase the memory is to melt it away. Those nine days it takes to dissolve my skeleton is more preferable to this hell of being around him. His hand hasn’t left my body since he picked me up outside my apartment building. His domineering presence setting me on edge. I’m left counting the seconds until I am tucked away underneath the covers in bed. He rambles on, not realizing I haven’t uttered a word since greeting him.
- His cold caress reminds me of a dead fish, aching for the warmth of Drake’s. Hayden mentions plans for the wedding, but I don’t absorb them, nodding while his driver drags us through the city. The city buildings pass by in a blur, unlike this night. I twist the jewelry resting on my neck.
