Chapter 41 Drake
- The gentle taps of feet along the floor pull me from the peaceful slumber. The morning sun blinds me, blinking to adjust to the harsh light bleeding through the curtains. The spot next to me empty and cold, Avery’s absence making me alert, my body bolting upright to find her sneaking from the room. Her clothes and heels clutched against her chest, while her free hand reaches for the handle. My dress shirt is over her shoulders, reaching mid-thigh, her hair messy from sleep and sex. And it’s breathtaking, witnessing her like this.
- “Avery?” My sleep ridden voice rumbles through the air, vibrating the space. Not expecting me to be up, she jumps, her shoes dropping with a thunk.
- “Oh, Jesus, Drake.” She clutches her chest, her gaze meeting mine, her cheeks rosy with embarrassment. “You scared me!”
