• I’m floating on cloud nine, overstimulated by the bright colors that fill the community. The buzz and vibrancy intoxicating, and I want to stay forever. Davina and Jade are ahead, whispering about something secretive….again. They’ve been acting like this all morning, intentionally excluding me from the conversation and it hurts, reminding me of high school. It sucked then and it sucks now.
• I narrow in on my friends, grabbing small fragments of their conversation. It’s intense, but too low for me to hear over the bustling street. Guards follow our every move, maintaining a respectable distance, allowing us the freedom to do whatever we want while remaining protected.
