Chapter 12 Avery

- A sleepless night filled with nightmares makes for a cranky morning. My neck and elbow sting, the bruises vibrant blue and purple against my pale flesh. I wince as my fingers lightly graze the spots. They are a horrible sight to wake to and I’ll breathe easier when they face. A full-length mirror in the closet makes it impossible to avoid last night. I do my best to ignore the onslaught of memories, but they taunt me from the depths of my mind.
- Instead, I focus on returning my belongings to their rightful home. With that task complete, I pick out a black turtleneck dress with sleeves that reach my wrists. The dress hugs my frame until flaring at the hips. To finish the ensemble, I add black tights and ankle boots. I Double check that all the bruises are covered, along with the choker, which rests against my throat. I toss my hair into a messy sock bun, keeping a few strands remain loose, framing my face.
