• “Sit.” I command bears down at Duchess, her but plopping onto the lush grass with a huff. My hand digs into the pouch on my waist, grabbing more of her treats, handing one over. “Stay.”
• I take a step back, arm raised, before taking another, Duchess watches me with interest, but doesn’t budge, and I continue until I am two arm lengths away. We stand there staring at each other, her small whines float across the field, but I don’t give the command to release her until she’s quiet per Jade’s instructions.
