• Caius returns the ring to me and the weight of the ring in my hand feels heavier than it should be. It’s as though the entire courtroom is holding its collective breath, waiting for Morgan to deny it, to come up with some new excuse or lie to save himself. But he doesn’t. He stares at the floor, his face pale and damp with sweat. His hands shake as he clasps them together, unable to look anyone in the eye.
