• After putting the wine glass away in the kitchen, I returned to the living room and dragged Gideon's body to my bedroom. He was damn heavy. I was out of breath once I managed to get Gideon onto the bed.
• I stripped Gideon's clothes and threw them on the floor, so that when he woke up, he would think we had just made love. The drug I'd put in his wine would confuse him and make him forget what really happened. He would believe my story without ever asking for details.
