• My days off were over. It was time to get back to work, which meant I had to be separated from Melissa for a while.
• Last night, I took Melissa to sleep in my room. I held her all night until she fell asleep. Melissa had been used to sleeping in her own room since she was one year old. I'd been training her to be independent from an early age. But there were times when I wanted Melissa to sleep in my room, especially when I was going on another undercover mission and had a new assignment. I wanted to spend more time with Melissa since I would be gone for a few days and wouldn't be able to see her.
