Chapter 70 Joshua
- The first time I met Alana was five years ago at one of my colleague’s birthday parties. She flitted through the halls like the most beautiful butterfly in a greenhouse. She perched from guest to guest, greeting them with deceptive friendliness and grace. I was one of the many people who was deceived by her beauty.
- After that birthday party, I managed to get her name and find out who she really was. Grandpa was very excited when I started talking about Alana Calonzo in front of him. He said he and Diego Calonzo had been working together for years. Grandpa had the idea to set Alana up with me to strengthen the relationship between the Sicilian mafia and the Chicago Outif, but Alana had a boyfriend at the time, and the match never happened.
- Three months after my first meeting with Alana, Grandpa had a regular meeting with Diego Calonzo in New York. I was there, too. Grandpa told Diego about my first meeting with Alana and my interest in his daughter. Diego then told Grandpa that he regretted not asking Alana to marry me instead of her lover, a weapons manufacturer in Europe. He said Alana's husband was a complete jerk. He had hurt his daughter and cheated on her. Diego Calonzo told him all kinds of bad things about his ex-son-in-law.
