Chapter 33 Let Me Be

• Nicolas went to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water. He had medicine bottle in the pocket of his pyjamas' trousers. He unscrewed the lid, took out a pill and put it in his mouth. He drank some water and swallowed it. He screwed back the lid and kept it on the island's worktop. He picked up the glass and drank the remaining liquid in it.
• Nicolas heard footsteps outside of the kitchen. He saw the person's shadow on the floor as it was coming towards the kitchen. He quickly hid his medication in his pocket and waited to see who it was. The shadow was close to the door frame and figured appeared.
• "Mum?" Nicolas said plainly.
