• Rosa helped Josephine into her room. “Ms. Quillen, please rest. Let me prepare something for you to eat.”
• “Thank you,” Josephine replied weakly. It wasn't the effects of alcohol that made her feel weak but rather the emotional distress weighing heavily on her. She couldn't shake off the heaviness in her heart.
• Just like that, Josephine fell ill. She spent a few weeks in the mansion before managing to recover partially. Maverick was absent during this time, leaving her to confront her fate alone.
