Chapter 4 Boss Of The Boss
- Nathan immediately frowned.
- Does Finn Lambert have a death wish? He wasted no time taking revenge on Rebecca, huh?
- “I was the one who hit him. It has nothing to do with you,” Nathan uttered. “I’ll settle this.”
- “No.”
- Rebecca shook her head and said with bloodshot eyes, “Don’t look for him. He’ll kill you.”
- Given how ruthless Finn was, Rebecca was sure he wouldn’t let Nathan off.
- “Also, my parents mustn’t know about this. Otherwise, they’ll chase you out.”
- As long as Nathan stayed in her house, Finn wouldn’t dare barge in and hurt him. If he got chased out, though, he’d be a goner.
- “It’s just a job anyway. If I can’t work at Lambert Corporation, I’ll look for something else.”
- Rebecca managed a smile.
- Then, she took a deep breath and proceeded to update her resume.
- Nathan remained silent. There was nothing else he could say to the kind woman before him.
- The only thing he could do was make those who bullied her pay the price!
- Nathan quickly took out his phone and sent a short text. It was very short, but filled with a murderous intent.
- ……
- Meanwhile, Finn was gloating.
- Once he got the project signed, his position in the Lambert family would rise by another level.
- He was going to be the next heir of the Lambert family, and that was only right.
- His hand was still bandaged as he made his way to Hansen Group’s office with the contract.
- Finn cocked his head while walking toward the reception, a look of arrogance on his face. “I’m looking for Mr. Hansen to sign the contract.”
- “Hello, sir. Do you have an appointment with the CEO?”
- “I’m the general manager of Lambert Corporation, Finn Lambert. We’ve discussed this project with Mr. Hansen extensively, and we’re finalizing the contract signing today.”
- Needless to say, Finn was displeased. This woman is just a receptionist. Why does she have so many questions?
- “I’m sorry. Mr. Hansen will not see anyone without an appointment,” the receptionist said calmly with a smile.
- “I’ve already said I’m the general manager of Lambert Corporation!”
- “I’m truly sorry. I only know Ms. Rebecca from Lambert Corporation. Mr. Hansen has given instructions to send her up directly if she comes, but he won’t see anyone else.”
- “You!”
- Finn flew into a rage immediately.
- What’s the meaning of this? Is Rebecca such a big shot? How is that she gets direct access, yet I cannot even get to see Mr. Hansen? Why?
- “This is a big project. Are you able to bear the responsibility if it’s delayed?” Finn scolded, waving his hand. “I can’t be bothered with you. I shall go up by myself!”
- Alas, he had only just taken two steps when a threatening voice sounded behind him.
- “It’s just a small project. I can afford to lose it!”
- Yuvan Hansen had arrived!
- Finn put on a big smile and instantly changed his tone of voice. “Don’t say that, Mr. Hansen. I was just joking! This may be a small project to you, but it’s a huge deal to Lambert Corporation!”
- With that, he hurriedly approached Yuvan, his demeanor exuding respect. “I’ve brought the contract over today. I was wondering if you…”
- Yuvan frowned. “When did I say I was going to sign with Lambert Corporation?”
- Finn was caught off guard.
- He blurted out, “Hasn’t Rebecca discussed it with you?”
- “That’s right. Rebecca has discussed everything with me, so if a contract is to be signed, I’ll sign it with her. Who are you?”
- Finn became angrier.
- He was the eldest grandson of the Lambert family, the general manager of Lambert Corporation, yet Yuvan asked who he was?
- “I…”
- “I don’t care who you are. I’ll only sign with Rebecca for this project.”
- Yuvan’s face darkened and a dozen security guards immediately came running over. “Nobody else has the right to sign anything with me. Send him out!”
- “Mr. Hansen, Mr. Hansen!”
- Finn started getting anxious.
- If he lost the project, he’d be beaten to a pulp when he got home!
- To Yuvan, it was merely a minor project, but to the Lamberts, the deal could change their fate.
- “What is the matter. Do you want to make a scene?”
- Yuvan turned and glared at Finn, his expression growing increasingly grim. “Throw him out!”
- Before Finn could react, all the security guards grabbed him and threw him out of the main door.
- “Ouch!”
- Finn yelped from the pain coming from his injured hand.
- When had he suffered such terrible treatment before? How could he have been chased out like that?
- “Rebecca! D*mn you, Rebecca!”
- Finn’s face was all red, and his rage intensified when he saw many passersby staring at him. “Looks like something shady is going on between you and Mr. Hansen!”
- Otherwise, why would Yuvan insist on signing the contract with only Rebecca and not him?
- Since Rebecca had been fired by them, there was no way she’d return to help.
- Then again, could they afford to let the deal fall through?
- Left with no choice, Finn clutched the contract and looked for Quincy immediately.
- Meanwhile, Yuvan was in his office on the top floor, speaking very humbly into his phone.
- “Mr. Phillip, I’ve already done as you instructed. May I know who’s the person who could ask you for such a favor?”
- His face was filled with great respect and reverence, the complete opposite of how he had treated Finn earlier.
- “He’s my boss, and he didn’t ask me for any favors. I am only carrying out his instructions. Understood?”
- The voice from the other end made Yuvan tremble with fear and he instantly nodded. “Understood!”
- Phillip Taylor is already terrifying beyond my imagination, so if that person is Phillip’s boss, that’d make him the boss of my boss. What a formidable presence he must be! I shudder to even think about it…
- “Yuvan, have you always thought that everything you’ve achieved in Derport over the last five years was due to my support?” Phillip suddenly asked.
- Yuvan hurriedly replied, “If Mr. Phillip hadn’t taken the effort to groom me, I’d still be a gangster running the streets and wouldn’t be where I am today.”
- “Think harder,” Phillip continued.
- Yuvan froze.
- Was that not the right answer?
- It was Phillip who had helped to point him in the right direction so he could gain an advantage at several important stages in his life. Thanks to that solid foundation, he gradually advanced to his current position.
- If it weren’t for Phillip’s guidance, Yuvan never would have achieved such success.
- Suddenly, he gulped and his voice started trembling. “Is…Is it Mr. Phillip’s boss?”
- “You’re pretty smart.”
- Phillip continued, “One word from him, and you can have everything. Similarly, one word from him, and everything can be taken away from you. You get my drift?”
- “Got it!” Yuvan immediately replied. “Thank you for your guidance, Mr. Phillip. I’ll make sure to do well!”
- Phillip didn’t say anything else and hung up.
- Feeling his legs go weak, Yuvan walked over to the couch and sat down heavily on it as he let out a long sigh.
- By then, there was cold sweat all over his forehead from his nervousness.
- So, the man behind Phillip is the big boss, huh? And it’s because of his word that I got to where I am today! How powerful is he?
- Yuvan finally calmed down after a long time, but the shock from before did not lessen.
- He could not put a face to his boss’ mysterious boss, but his mere existence was enough for him to honor and worship.
- “Looks like Rebecca is connected to a powerful man. Quincy and his son are in deep trouble!”
- Yuvan took a deep breath and tried to suppress the shock in his heart.
