• Walking into his office, Dominic's eyes scanned the room until they found John standing with a little girl. Dominic's confusion at having to ask, "Who is she?" was palpable. "She's the girl Kael admitted to the hospital," John said in a low, serious voice. "Found her where Valarie was staying with that elderly couple."
• Dominic turned his eyes to the little girl hiding behind Kael, who peeked out at him, wide-eyed with fear, before ducking back down again.
• "Why is she here?" said Dominic in a serious tone. Kael looked down, his voice barely a whisper, saying, "I thought she would be safe here... and she could keep Valarie company."
