Chapter 81
- Valarie snapped open her eyes, only to meet the suffocating sight of Dominic's arms wrapped around her. A flood of revulsion, mixed with a shot of fear, rose within her. She tried to shove him, but it was as if some invisible weight rendered her body heavy.
- Looking upward at the peaceful face of Dominic, a wave of anger and hatred coursed through her veins. There she was, trapped on this bed with him; she couldn't believe that she had been so helpless for so long.
- But struggling to free herself from the grip of Dominic was broken by the sudden flash of a different face—the innocent, smiling visage of Lily. Valarie's heart was also filled with an aching void, all of it jolted by sudden memories, fragmented and unclear, but enough to make her startle awake.
