• With every rhythm of her heartbeat, Isabella's injuries became more intense as she sank more into her bed. The painkillers Alpha Kayden had given her wear beginning to wear off, and she felt too exhausted to ask for more. She gave a listening ear to a quiet voice, as her eyelids betrayed her and fell. Her consciousness started to fade as a whirlwind of visions enveloped her.
• She found herself in a busy bowling alley, where the air was filled with the sounds of tumbling pins and loud laughter. A woman, radiant and carefree laughed with a man. Their joy was infectious.
