Chapter 1
- Isabella's pov
- "No!" I silently whispered.
- I stared at the pregnancy test once again to confirm my fears, and the result was the same as before; the plus signs were bold as ever.
- "Ethan will never accept it," I whispered again to my only friend and confidante.
- "I warned you. I warned you not to get into anything with him. For goodness’ sake, he is an Alpha's son and you're an Omega. He will never openly accept you in front of the pack."
- I raised my once-bent head toward my friend. She was the only one who knew about my secret affair with Ethan. I'd been warned against having a relationship with him.
- "Ethan is not going to reject the baby. He won't leave us just like that. Once he hears of the baby's existence, me being an Omega won't matter anymore," I said, trying to convince myself more than my friend.
- "You just said Ethan wouldn't accept the baby. And that's true, Isabella. He is going to get engaged to the Star Pack Alpha's daughter, Dara. He’s going to make her his Luna. It’s not a rumor, Isabella," said Gina.
- I knew why the Gamma family members' names started with the letter ‘G,’ and the story always made me laugh. Thinking about it now, I would have laughed if I weren’t dealing with a life-changing situation.
- Gina was right, but I wasn’t ready to accept that reality. I believed the moon goddess wouldn't play a cruel hand against me again. She’d already dealt me a harsh fate by making me an Omega and an orphan.
- Ethan’s father, the former Alpha, had retired, and I knew the elders would press him to find a Luna to rule by his side. But Ethan would no longer be just an Alpha’s son; he’d be the Alpha, the ruler of our pack. He could refute their request or choose whomever he wanted to be his Luna.
- "I just have to talk with Ethan, Gina."
- "Fine! You can follow me. Last I heard, he was training with my twin brother on the training field. They might still be there."
- "Someone might say something about me being there."
- "We’ll just claim you came to clean the equipment. And when no eyes are on him, you two can sneak out to talk."
- "But all eyes are always on him, Gina. He’s never alone, even though he’s alone."
- "Should I call him for you? Let him meet you here."
- "No, I can't wait. I am so anxious; I need to see him."
- "That's my girl. Walk with me," she said, hooking her hand around mine.
- We were ten meters away from the training field when I saw Ethan across, heading towards his quarters.
- "Gina! Gina!" I said, pointing towards the figure going to the Alpha's quarters.
- "Go! Go talk with him," Gina said, giving me a little push for encouragement.
- I walked towards Ethan with shaking legs. I knew this was the moment of truth—the time I would be accepted by Ethan, and maybe even by the pack.
- "Alpha! Alpha!" I called out with my tiny voice.
- "Don't call me that. I'm not yet the Alpha," Ethan teased.
- "Isabella!" he said as he turned around, his hand on the door handle, waiting for me to reach him.
- "What the hell are you doing here in the daytime? We agreed to meet only at nighttime," he whispered before opening the door and dragging me inside the Alpha's mansion.
- We quickly climbed the stairs and walked toward his room without saying a single word.
- "Why are you here at this time, Isabella?" His voice boomed in the safety of his room. "You know too many people live here, and I can't be seen with you. We talked about this."
- "I'm pregnant," I blurted out, forgetting how I had practiced telling him.
- "What did you just say?"
- I had imagined he’d be excited to know he was going to be a father. I never expected him to react with such rage to the news of my pregnancy.
