Chapter 47 Unraveling
- "Where the hell have you been, Ethan?" Mia's voice cut through the din of the bar, sharp and commanding. Ethan barely looked up from his drink, eyes fixed on the amber liquid that swirled in his glass. He had been in this dive bar for hours, nursing the same whiskey, lost in thought.
- "I'm not doing this tonight, Mia," Ethan grumbled, taking another slow sip. The tone in his voice was clearly dismissive and almost indifferent. Mia slid onto the stool beside him, her perfume engulfing the air between them. He couldn't help but notice the sharpness in her eyes, the way they scanned him looking for any sign of weakness she could use to get her way.
- "Seriously? You're going to ignore me now too?" Mia's voice was a little softer then, but the edge still remained. "You can't keep running away every time things get complicated."
