Chapter 28 Bumping
- "Fancy seeing you here," Mia's voice cut through the soft hum of the spa, her voice light and almost too sweet. I looked up from my seat in the lounge area, my robe wrapped loosely around me as I sipped on a cucumber-infused water. There she was, Mia, striding in with that usual air of unwarranted confidence, her smile wide but her eyes calculating.
- "Mia," I managed, masking the shock behind a smile as bright as hers was. "Never thought I'd bump into you here." And that was a fact, for I'd gone to the spa seeking an escape of sorts-clearing the rubble in my mind for a semblance of peace away from the mess which Ethan had managed to weave between us. But it would appear that fate had other plans.
- "It's my go-to spot," she said, settling into the chair beside me with a casual grace that spoke volumes. As if she belonged everywhere, including the spaces I considered mine. She glanced at me, her gaze lingering just a fraction too long, assessing. "And you?"
