Chapter 14 Breakfast Betrayal

  • I woke up with a pounding headache and the vague recollection of mayhem from last night still sticking to my skin. Ethan was already gone, probably off to some meeting or gym session-his usual morning routine. Rolling out of the bed, each muscle complained with a stretch; this soreness reminded me of how wild it had gotten. I was anticipating a low-key morning, probably just a shower and a mug of strong coffee to clear my head, but as I walked into the kitchen, I was met with a sight that stopped me dead in my tracks.
  • She was there, standing by the stove in one of Ethan's T-shirts, cooking breakfast like she owned the place. She flipped a pancake off with a practiced ease, humming softly to herself. I stood frozen in the doorway, my mind reeling. What the hell was she still doing here?
  • "Morning!" she chirped, glancing over her shoulder with that bright, easy smile. "I hope you're hungry. I'm making extra.
