Chapter 52 Did She Make It?

• The minute the doctor walks back in, the nurse follows with another bed to wheel her away into the operating room. I watch as Arabella wakes up for a brief second and then smiles at me, before closing her eyes again. Not wanting to let go of her hand, I finally give in and release it while kissing her lips lovingly.A thought occurred to me that scarred me so much, I had second thoughts about her surgery. “What if the doctor and the nurse are in on it? What if she doesn’t live or the pups?” So many things could go wrong, and we have barely had any time with each other.
• “Stop.” I demand before looking the doctor in the face and warning, “If she doesn’t make it out of this, you will be to blame, and I will make sure that you spend the rest of your life in misery and pain for it. So, watch it.”
• “I understand, but you have no worries. She will be fine, I guarantee it.” He produces a fake smile before wheeling her off to the operating room.
