Chapter 8 She Will Respect Me

  • “You will respect me if it’s the last thing I do! This is my castle and my kingdom so if you want to live you had better stop causing problems and learn to deal with the situation. Now!” I yell at the top of my lungs because Alpha Romero has decided that he wants to try and take over the throne.
  • I watch him, as his eyes grow wide and show the fear that he is feeling right at this very moment. Then I slam my fist down on the table and state, “Leave now before I decide to rip you from limb to limb for your insolence.”
  • He quickly stands to leave and then turns to me briefly before asking with a snide tone to his voice, “Does that apply to your little prisoner upstairs too? Or do we keep pets to play with now?”
  • At that moment, I launch myself towards him and my claws come out. As I reach for him, I rip a huge gash in his arm. When I see blood, my instincts take over and I tear into him more and more till the security guards come up behind me and restrain me, so I don’t kill him.
  • They hold me till I calm down, and then I stare at Alpha Romero with murderous intent in my eyes and say, “Get out! You are banished from this castle and my lands. If I ever see you anywhere within them, you will be killed instantly. Now leave!”
  • Watching him leave quickly, I notice a trail of blood on the ground behind him. I must have done more damage than I had previously thought because after a few feet he falls to the floor. The security guards run over to him and several of the women in the room before they all turn to me with scared looks on their faces and Beta Turner says quietly, “He’s dead. He has lost too much blood.”
  • With fear in their eyes, everyone quickly leaves the room except for the security guards who pick up his body and take it outside. Beta Turner stays behind to find out what I want done with him. He asks with concern in his voice, “Do you want him to be buried in the graveyard or burned down by the river?”
  • I turn to him with a serious look and then say in a grave tone, “You know we don’t bury those of us who are banished, we just burn them. So, take him down stream and make sure that you don’t leave anything for the buzzards when you are through.” He nods his head and then walks slowly out of the room.
  • Feeling horrible about what just happened, I think back to my earlier disagreement with Arabella. Perhaps, if she hadn’t set me off in the first place and caused me to feel so upset, maybe I wouldn’t have lost myself when I fought with Alpha Romero. This girl is causing me more problems than she is worth. At this rate, I won’t get a chance to even mate with her before I must kill her too.
  • Why did the Goddess Luna mate me to an immature girl who can get under my skin in a heartbeat and cause so much irreparable damage to my kingdom? “Ughhh.” I cry out in frustration while raising my closed fists to the air and shaking them.
  • Feeling so infuriated right now that I could kill her with my bare hands, I decide it is best if I don’t bring her lunch and let Omega Dante do it instead. So, I go to the kitchen and ask him kindly, “Would you do me a small favor and make up a plate for Ms. Arabella before taking it to her? Just be careful, she has a habit of trying to run away and she likes to punch men in their jewels.”
  • When I say that, he starts to laugh uncontrollably for a few minutes and then stands up straight with a serious face and says, “No, problem. I will be up there in a few seconds. Just let me take care of a few things first and then she will have my full attention. Who knows? Maybe she will be nice to me, and she won’t throw the lunch right back at my head.”
  • I must admit for a moment there, he made me smile before it is quickly replaced with a scowl as I walk out of the kitchen. Being able to tell that today is going to be a bad day, I resign myself to walking around the gardens and trying to regain my self-restraint before seeing her sometime this afternoon. While walking around, I scan the area for any wildlife besides birds.
  • When I find a small fox at the edge of the path, I smile and stand still just watching for a while. It has a beautiful reddish tint to the ends of its fur and makes no sound while it goes about it’s business at first. However, when it notices me watching it, it goes into prey mode and scurries off into the woods where I can no longer see what it is doing.
  • Waiting for a little bit longer in hopes of seeing it again, I stand there and then sense someone staring at me through one of the castle windows. I turn around and glance up quickly to where I feel it is coming from and then I catch a glimpse of someone. I automatically know it is Arabella before I even see her eyes. Realizing that I see her watching me, she hides in the shadows, but I know that she is still watching me. I can feel it.
  • As I stand there staring at her, Beta Turner walks up behind me and startles me when I didn’t even notice him coming. That is not a good thing, because if she commands my attention in this way too much, someone could easily overtake me in a heartbeat. I must do something about her before I lose my kingdom. I only have two options. Either kill her and be done with the situation, or make her mine and mate with her, therefore securing my heirs and becoming a better king than I could have been on my own.
  • Beta Turner says something to me, but I don’t hear him right away till he turns to me and grasps my forearm. “Are you alright, my King? You look like you just saw a ghost or something?”
  • Hesitating, I clear my thoughts before answering absentmindedly, “Yes, I was just thinking of the trouble we have been having with that human girl.”
  • “Well, if you don’t mind me asking. I had wondered why you have been keeping her. She seems more trouble than she is worth. Shouldn’t we just kill her and get rid of the body before anyone notices and it causes even more problems?” He says politely, but I can tell he is more concerned than I am about this whole thing.
  • “Honestly, I don’t know why. At first, I thought it was because the goddess deemed that she be my mate, but now I don’t know anymore. Things are not as black and white as I would like them to be.”
  • He leans in a bit closer before he says softly, “Perhaps you should bed her and find out if she is what you think she is. Even if she fights you, she will eventually calm down the minute you show your dominance over her. All women are like that. They like to be controlled, even if they won’t admit it.”
  • Staring at him with worry, I must admit I didn’t think about that before, but is there any truth in it? I shake my head before stating, “I can’t do that. She is a virgin and if I am wrong, I will be doing her major harm. That is just not someplace I can allow myself to go right now. Perhaps, someday when she doesn’t hate me, she will beg for it. Till then, no, not happening.”
  • He starts to laugh and then says, “Hey, that’s completely up to you. I am just trying to offer up solutions. Anyway, I stopped to tell you that the problem is taken care of with Alpha Romero. Everything is cleaned up and no one will ever find the body.”
  • “Thank you. I appreciate what you have done.” I close my eyes for a moment, before continuing, “By the way, would you mind checking on Arabella’s room. I had asked Omega Dante to bring her food and I just hope she didn’t give him too many problems.” I frown as I glance back up to the window and realize that she is gone.
  • After Omega Turner walks back to the castle, I sit down on a bench a little further down the path and then close my eyes for a while to relax. “One problem down, now the next one.” I murmur so softly no one could hear me before opening my eyes and standing.
