Chapter 34 The Master

• Things will change when the pups are born. Arabella’s parents will want to visit and see them. Hell, they probably will want to stay for a while too. “I guess I can deal with that.” I murmur under my breath while scratching my neck. It’s amazing how big she has gotten since she has become pregnant. Matter of fact, none of her clothes fit her anymore, so I have had several tailored especially for her. The minute the tailor brings them to our door, she jumps up and says, “Oh my gosh. These are for me?” With a big smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes. Is it bad that I did this just so I could see the delight on her face? I know full well that later she will thank me in ways I can only imagine. Or perhaps can hope for. Smiling, I answer, “Yes. Of course, they are. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Yesterday, I saw that nothing is really fitting you anymore, so I went over to the tailors and commissioned these to be done for today. He worked throughout the night to get them here in time. Wasn’t that nice?” She turns to me and then back to the man in black before saying happily to him, “Thank you so much, these are all so beautiful. I will go try them all on right now.” She rushes into the bathroom with them all on her arms and then the door shuts behind her. Turning to the tailor, I state, “She is certainly happy with them. Thank you, you did a great job.” Just after I say it, he nods and then backs out the door. When I hear her sing in the bathroom, it brings a smile to my lips, and I try to open the door. “Nuh, uh.” I hear her state before saying, “You have to wait till I am done. I will model them for you and then you can tell me which one you like the best.” She giggles and then silence. Shaking my head, I walk to the chair and take a seat. As I hear the door open, I think it is Arabella, so I don’t turn to look till it is too late. Feeling a searing pain in the side of my neck, I turn to see a figure in black standing literally right next to me. How did he get within an inch of me so quickly? When I look straight at him, I see a bloody smile and then he hisses before saying, “I have come to take revenge, because this throne is rightfully mine.” Still in his clutches, I fight him with all my strength. Yet, somehow it isn’t enough as he clenches his fangs down on my neck again. I give one last shove and break free of him, but the minute I do, I see Arabella walk out of the bathroom with a shocked look on her face. The vampire takes one look at her and bares his fangs before escaping out the door. Then I hear her scream at the top of her lungs, while she stares in horror at me. She rushes to my side and then starts to cry uncontrollably while muttering something I can’t understand. A few minutes later, she stops crying so hard and then calms down briefly to exclaim, “We have to get you help. I think you are bleeding to death.” Still in shock, I hadn’t realized that I bled so much, until I looked down at my shirt and saw the red spray everywhere. I open my mouth to ask her to help me up and then everything turns black. “Julian, Julian.” II hear her say so faintly, that it sounds like she is a mile away and rushing towards me. Deciding to open my eyes, I find it harder than it usually is and when I do, the room is dark except for one spotlight trained on me. It hurts my eyes from the moment I open them, so I yell, “Shut that off!” Hearing several people rush around me, they slowly come into focus the second the light is switched off. The good doctor is one and then the nurse, but the third I don’t recognize at first. When it all comes flooding back to me, I remember the doctor hired on an Omega from another village to aid him for the pup’s birth. Once they stop rushing all around me, I hear the doctor state jokingly, “That took long enough. I didn’t think you would ever come back to us.” He smiles and then does something to my I.V.The two nurses hover around the bed and the doctor before I ask quietly, “How long have I been out?” “A week. Like I said, in a few more days your likelihood of coming out of it, would have been almost nothing. Your mate is awfully lucky that you did because the other alpha’s have been busy fighting to see who was going to take over your position. You know full well that they would have killed her the minute they took power.” He shakes his head and sighs before administering something into my I.V. and then telling the nurses, “Take the I.V. out once this bag is empty, then he will be good to get out of here.” Watching them all, I ask quickly before he leaves the room with them, “Where is Arabella right now?” “I assume she is holed up in her room and awaiting her death. The last time I seen her yesterday, she said the death threats have been piling up and she is scared to leave.” He makes a “tsk, tsk” sound and then walks out. Forcing myself to sit up, I know that this isn’t good, and I need to leave as soon as possible. As I see the new nurse walk in, I ask her, “Would you please come here and help me with this? I need it out right now because I have to check on my mate.” She shakes her head and then continues what she is doing, before saying, “I can’t. The doctor gave me strict orders. Only when it is done.” She points at me and wags her finger. “Well then fine. If I must.” I sit on the edge of the bed and yank it out myself. A fine spray of blood spreads across my sheets as I rip the I.V. right out of my vein and then stand up. She starts to yell, but I cut her off and say, “Excuse me, but I must be leaving now.” Before I walk towards the door with my ass hanging out of the gown, and feeling just a bit under clothed.
