Chapter 46 There She Is

  • Driving for hours, the sun starts to come up in the distance as I stare down the long road in front of me. It is a beautiful sunrise with shades orange and purple. Even a hint of pink shows through the mountainside when I drive along the asphalt, as I hope to find them before she gives birth. Or at least find them safe and sound if nothing else. I honestly don’t think I could live another day, if I found out that she is dead. She is my heart and soul now and nothing else matters except for her and the pups. I live and die for them, and them only. Realizing that, I feel a tear escape the corner of my eye and then I quickly raise my hand to wipe it away. Why? Why now of all times?” I murmur under my breath while shaking my head. I glance in the rearview mirror and see a rabbit on the side of the road foraging for food. He is just sitting there calmly, as if the world could do him no wrong. However, when I return my attention to the road in front of me, I swerve to the right when I see a deer walking out right in front of me. I narrowly miss it and then correct the car. After a few more miles, the sun comes over the horizon and temporarily blinds me. It is then, that I decide to pull the car off the road for a few minutes and find a bush to take a pee behind. Something is clearly working against me here. Forgetting how dangerous driving can be, I shake my head and murmur, “Wow, that was close.” When I get out of the car. Making the short stop, I relieve myself before walking around for a few minutes to the smell in the air hits me and reminds me of something. Arabella. I quickly turn around to see a small cabin not 50 feet from where I am standing. Then I notice the old trail leading to it and the car parked next to the old shack. They must have pulled in here when she went into labor, or he was too tired to drive anymore. This certainly seems like an out of the way place to hide out, so I hurry up to the cabin and quietly stand outside the window listening. I want to make sure there isn’t anyone else in there with them that could potentially cause a problem. After listening for a few minutes, I decide that the coast is clear and announce my presence before opening the door. “Hey buddy.” I hear Eric yell from across the room before I see Arabella sitting on a chair. She looks alright and still very pregnant. So, I ask, “What happened? I thought you were giving birth, baby.” When I look at her, I see tears forming in her eyes and then they cascade down her cheeks. Smiling at me, she rushes over and hugs me hard before I pick her up and we meet face to face. As I look her in the eyes, we stare at each other before I devour her with longing. When I temporarily break the kiss, I glance down and see that her lips look bruised. “Baby, I am so sorry.” I say quickly before kissing her again. I can’t seem to get enough of her and yet I want to know what happened. So, I break the kiss again and this time I place her back down on her feet for the moment, at least till I find out exactly what happened earlier. Turning to Eric, I smile and then ask, “How did you find this place?” Before Arabella gets the chance to answer my previous question. “Wait a minute.” II hear her soft voice from behind me as she steps in. I turn back around to her and wait for her to finish. As I stare at her, she puts her hands on her hips and says, “You didn’t come for me till now. What happened? I thought I was in labor, and you still didn’t.” “Baby, what do you mean you weren’t in labor?” I ask as I look from her to Eric questioningly. “I guess I had a false contraction. I looked it up when we got here and it said on the search thing that you can have them at any time right before you have the babies, whether it be a couple weeks or days.” “What a relief.” I say with much enthusiasm and then turn to Eric before asking, “So, how did you find this place?” He hesitates for a second and then sighs, “Well, that was easy. Your woman here couldn’t hold it anymore, so I scoped out the area for any potential hazards, then I saw it. I checked it out quickly while she stayed in the car, and then I drove back in here, and we have been in this cabin for several hours now.” He raises his hands and gestures up in the air while looking around the room. “Well, I guess this is just pure luck then. Because it just so happens that I had to take a leak and I stopped here too. Perhaps, I am more in tune with Arabella than I had previously thought.” I smirk before letting out loud laughter despite myself. From behind me, I feel Arabella’s hand touch me softly. Then she says sweetly, “I missed you. This thug over here told me I didn’t have a choice. We had to hold up in here whether I wanted to or not.” She frowns before continuing, “It’s creepy here and I don’t like it.” I can’t stop myself from laughing again and then I pick her back up in my arms and devour her mouth again. Not being able to control myself, I kiss her over and over, because I missed her and didn’t honestly know if I would ever see her again alive. Now, I am so pleased I simply can’t stop even though Eric is giving me the stink eye and smirking at me the whole time. “Julian, I am kind of glad this whole thing happened in a weird sort of way.” I stop when he says this because now, I must find out why he said it. “Excuse me?” I find myself wondering why. “Well, if this hadn’t happened, I would have never met Arabella or found out that you fell madly in love with someone. When you said you loved my sister, I thought you were done for. But now that I see you truly in love, I know that it is a good thing, and I am really happy for you. I just hope everything works out after all.” He says while a smile spreads across his face. “Thanks, bud. It is something I would have never expected either, but when it happened, I knew that she was it for me.” I return my gaze to her and then say in a loving voice while staring deep into her eyes, “Arabella, if I could, I would always protect you from anything that comes along, even if it means that I would have to sacrifice myself. As long as you and the pups are safe, I am happy because I love you more than life itself. You are my mate and my Luna. You are my everything.” After my voice trails off and I begin to kiss her again, everything else including Eric disappears.
