• Lady Mother stood outside Rosa’s room, gently tapping against the door, trying to wake her up. After several attempts to wake Rosa, she finally turned the knob and stepped inside. Sprawled across the bed, Rosa lay on her back, her hair splayed out like a halo around her head. Rosa let out a soft whimper in her sleep that seemed to trouble her.
• Lady Mother motioned with her feet towards the bed, stepping closer. She called out softly, “Rosa,” her voice soft with concern. Yet, there was only silence in response, remaining undisturbed. The faint sound of Rosa’s breath was all Lady Mother could hear with the soft patter of her heartbeat. She moved into her next trick to get Rosa to wake up.
