Chapter 5 ~ 30 Minutes Until The Jet Lands ~
- ~ 30 Minutes Until The Jet Lands ~
- Rosa was jolted awake!
- Her hand automatically went to her necklace. Fiddling with the metal, Rosa thought about the dream that had haunted her. Clear as if it had just happened, she recalled receiving a call from her Auntie, who informed her that her parents had died and that the funeral would be held the next day at 1:30 p.m. Though it happened five years ago to Rosa, it was a fresh wound that had not healed.
- Rosa took a moment to steady her breathing. Needing to distract her mind, she gazed out the window. The crystal blue ocean stretched endlessly before her, its surface adorned with delicate white ripples dancing along its surface. 'RELAX!' she screamed in her mind.
- With each steady breath, Rosa traced her fingers over the smooth contours of the family heirloom. And with each gentle caress, she felt a wave of tranquillity wash over her, easing the tension from her body. 'Almost there!' she coaxed in her mind.
- Rosa needed to push the memory of her parents to the depths of the recesses of her mind. The last thing she needed was to have a breakdown where she was. 'Fill the void!' Rosa instructed herself. This was a game that she and her grandmother used to play. 'Let your ears do all the seeing.' Her grandmother had named the game.
- Using her acute hearing, Rosa squeezed her eyes shut. Leaning back in her seat. She could feel her heart returning to her rhythmic beat. Rosa embraced the world of sound around her. The vibrations bounced off the interior of the jet. Like a radio way to a visual processor, slowly forming in her mind was a clear picture of everything around her. Rosa let her third eye paint the scene. Envisioning every detail without the need to open her eyes or twist her body to catch a glimpse of what unfolded around her.
- At the rear of the jet, The Game Master and his crew huddled together. Cobra was the team organizer and planner, while Blaze was the video editor, and Killer Kitten held the camera, recording everything that was going on. Their voices were low as they exchanged thoughts. 'I need Sorry Not Sorry's compliance. My very life depends on it. When the master finds out ...' Rosa listened to what The Game Master had said.
- Blaze had placed a hand on his shoulder, 'As if she is going to come all this way and not go to the Mansion.' Blaze's tone was low so that only their little group could hear them.
- 'That's right!' Killer Kitten added, 'Once she enters the Mansion, she is part of the game. If Sorry, Not Sorry leaves ... well ... she is out and can't get the prize and we have full filled the end of our bargan! Right!?'
- Meanwhile, the contestants buzzed. Swapping tales of their most chilling paranormal encounters. Rosa could see one of the contestants visibly shiver, 'I have goosebumps all over my arms just thinking about it!' She declared to the others around her.
- Each story was infused with a sense of fear. 'The worst part was when I was touched, only to find out there was no one behind me.' A male contestant was admitting to the group.
- 'It is the whispering in my ear!' A female contestant added to the stories. 'It freaken creaps me out!' she added.
- It was etched in their brains, a reminder that the dead don't always find peace after death. The sharing of their stories draws them closer together. With this bond, many of the contestants had paired up. Promising to have each other's backs if things should get out of hand. In their mind, they had pictured Lancashire's Mansion as a haunted house. But instead of actors jumping out to scare them. It would be the dead doing everything to scare them. Even going to the extent of trying to cause them harm.
- Breathing in, Rosa then focused on the hum of the jet's engines. 'we have roughly 30 minutes before we reach our destination.' she heard the captain say to his second in command.
