• Rosa peered through the narrow gap of her door, curious by the silent movement outside her corridor. The maids moved from one location to the next, not missing a spot as they tidied the Lancashire quarters. The soft scent of lavender entered her nose as she watched one of the maids wiping down the wooden legs of the chairs. She picked up a tone that one of the maids had been humming. Closing the door again, Rosa stretched her arms and back.
• "The court session may not resume until ten, but the minutes tick by quickly if you dottle!" Rosa whispered to herself as she motioned her feet to the bathroom.
