Chapter 19 ~ Viscount Of Lancashire ~
- ~ Viscount of Lancashire ~
- Viscount of Lancashire sauntered into the lounge. With his hands on his hips, Charles took the time to soak in the array of contestants dotted around the room. Internally, he was chuckling! Each of the contestants was blissfully unaware of what they had gotten themselves into. His gaze had landed on the girl he had seen many years ago. A sparkle of light flashed in his typically gloomy eyes. Rosa, who was comfortably settled in his brother's chair, was casually enjoying her meal. While bobbing her head at what his mother was saying. 'William isn't going to like this!' He thought to himself as he made his way over to his mother. 'When he sees this, he is going to have a temper tantrum!' Internally, he was laughing.
- Straightening out his jacket, he cleared his throat, "Mam!" His smile beamed.
- The lady mother stood up from her chair, wrapping her arms around her son. "Charles, you have kept me waiting!" She looked around. "Where are your brothers and sisters?" She pouted unladylike.
- "Mam!" Charles cooed, "They are finishing up a few things and will be here once they are done." He informed his mother. His eyes landed on Rosa, softening his features even more, "And you might be?" He acted as if he had never seen nor heard of her name before.
- Rosa finished the food in her mouth. "Rosa Erickson!" She said, sticking out her hand in greeting. "It's a pleasure to meet you!" Her eyes lingered on his face longer than she should have.
- His smile only grew. "The pleasure is all mine!" Charles took her hand, completing the greeting. "Tell me you are not part of that lot?" He slightly nudged his head in the direction of the guests without looking at them.
- Rosa chuckled for a second, "I am not! Travis owed me a sum of money. He couldn't pay it, so ... I am here!" Her eyes landed on The Game Master quickly. "Travis had hired me to complete a task ... he was desperate to get what was wanted, and I wasn't going to budge on my wages." She explained a bit more.
- 'That explains a few things!' Charles thought as he maintained his composure. "Mam, Rosa is sitting in William's chair!" He raised a brow at his mother.
- Glaring at her glass as if it were the most interesting thing she had ever seen, "William has made me wait far too long!" Lady Mother pouted.
- "Mam, but William always sits beside you!" Charles said through clenched teeth.
- Rosa's eyes bounced from Lady Mother to the Viscount of Lancashire as they spoke, "Is William a Mama's boy?"
- Charles snorted, "We all are! But ... William, more than the rest of us. He will fight us to sit beside our Mam if one of us should try to take his spot!"
- Lady Mother scoffed, "this will teach him not to let me wait again in the future!"
- Rosa had placed the empty plate on her lap and began to giggle. She watched as Lady Mother and Charles studied her with a questionable glare. "I am sorry, this just kind of reminds me of when I was a little girl in the kitchen." She recalled the fond memory. "Mimi would call for my pop-pop in from outside. Of course, he would take his time." She giggled a bit, "Mimi didn't like it much when Pop-pop did that. In retaliation, I got to lick the cookie dough off the wooden spoon, something that my Pop-pop loved doing." Rosa had sealed her lips as she smiled. "It would start a big scuffle with them. Ending with my Mimi waving a wooden spoon in the air. Pop-pop then would rush out of the kitchen with a cookie in his mouth. Meanwhile, my Mimi is cursing at him, ready to punish him for what he had done."
- Rosa's little story had Lady Mother and Charles laughing. Lady Mother commented, "That sounds somewhat similar to our family!" She ended with a broad smile that reached her eyes.
- "I hope you don't find this offensive," Charles said, directing the comment to Rosa. "But you look so much like my baby sister ... Isabella!"
- Nodding her head several times, "William mentioned that as well along with your mother!" Rosa replied to the comment. Rosa's head motioned to the entryway to see that a group had been standing there, observing the location.
