Chapter 9 His luscious lips

  • ZACK
  • I look up from my tablet and glance across the table at Brayden, who has his eyes locked on the various documents and the files on his laptop, completely ignoring me. My focus instantly goes to his luscious lips and the burning question which I still don’t have an answer to. Do his lips taste good?
  • No. I have to stop thinking about it.
  • I press my lips together and shake my head before I turn my focus back to my tablet.
  • This is crazy.
  • Suddenly, my dream from last night pops into my head as my throat suddenly goes dry.
  • Heat rushes through me as the image of his soft plump lips pressing against mine has my body coming alive.
  • Gulp.
  • My pants tighten as my manhood springs to life.
  • Shit. I can’t be sitting across from him and thinking about that.
  • I move around on the chair, trying to find a comfortable spot while I discreetly pull my pants away from my growing bulge. Reluctantly, I tear my eyes away from his lips and turn them back to the boring information on my tablet.
  • Any other time, I would enjoy reviewing numbers, but not today. For some strange reason, I have a feeling I won’t be enjoying it anytime soon either, as long as Brayden is here.
  • Ugh… And I have to be with him all the time, too.
  • I normally love to take on these extra projects when my brother needs help, but this one is going to drive me crazy. Whenever I’m near Brayden, my mind just won’t function properly. Why? I don’t understand.
  • I’m not into guys. To be honest, I don’t normally hook up with women too much, but I have from time to time. I’m not proud of it either. But right now, I would rather be in some dark nightclub with the smell of sweat and alcohol floating in the air with a heavy drumming in my ears instead of being here and being tortured with the sweet smell of lilacs all the time.
  • I narrow my eyes as I glare at the tablet. How can I find a way to get out of helping him?
  • As if my brother can hear my thoughts, he walks into the conference room and over to us. “Hey. How is it going? Have you been able to get through some of the data yet?”
  • I shake my head and hold up my tablet. “I’m looking through some stuff for you right now, but I’m not finding much.”
  • That isn’t quite true. I haven’t been able to focus on it to think about finding anything.
  • I quickly add, “I’ll take it home tonight and continue to look through the data. I’m sure I’ll be able to find what I’m looking for when I’m not distracted.”
  • Even though a part of me wants to look to see what Brayden’s reaction is, I fight against it and keep my focus on my brother. However, he glances across the table at Brayden and then back at me. “Don’t push yourself too much. We don’t need the information right away. Sometime soon is good enough.”
  • He then turns towards Brayden. “Alpha Brayden, how are things coming along? Do you already have a list of things to cover? We didn’t get a chance last night to go over anything you’ve found. You went to your room, and I didn’t hear from you again. However, you looked tired, so I didn’t bother to interrupt you.”
  • Tired. That is an understatement.
  • A snort bubbles out of me as I glance to the side of me at Brayden.
  • My brother whips his head around and glares at me. “That is NOT the way to act around another alpha who has come to help us. You better learn some respect, and soon.”
  • Respect.
  • I made sure he was comfortable in bed last night after preventing him from face diving into his plate of food. I think I have given him plenty of respect. However, I choke down everything and stare at my brother while I silently nod. After all, he is the alpha of our pack. There is a line I don’t dare cross, unless I what to fight him for the alpha position, which I no interest in.
  • I’ve already been told privately by some elders that I will be an alpha of a pack. They have told me it is highly likely that there is an omega heir to a pack that needs to find her alpha. Once I find her and claim her, I will become the pack’s alpha.
  • However, I’ve been waiting for so long. I’m starting to wonder if the elders even know what they are talking about.
  • Blake gives me a stern look for a few moments before he turns his attention back to Brayden. “I hope my brother hasn’t been causing you any problems.”
  • Once again, he has it all backwards. It is Brayden who is giving me problems, not the other way around.
  • I glare daggers into my brother’s side before I turn my attention back to my tablet, hoping to find something to take my mind off his comments. However, just like earlier, my mind can’t focus on the information in front of me. Instead, it is stuck on Blake’s words and how it made me sound like an unprofessional jerk, which I’m not.
  • As soon as Brayden’s sweet voice replies, “He has been…,” I don’t want to hear any more of it. I bolt upright and without saying anything, I dart out of the room towards the bathroom. Even though I would rather run through the forest in my wolf form, I’m going to have to get by with taking a moment for myself in the bathroom.
  • I dart past everyone and only slow down when I rush through the bathroom door.
  • Unfortunately, I can’t really relax by just leaving the conference room. Even as I dart into a stall and shut the door behind me, the image of Brayden’s plump lips dances around in my head. His moist pink lips practically call to me and beg for me to take just one taste, as if one taste would be good enough.
  • My heartbeat quickens as my breathing turns into short pants.
  • However, I have a strange feeling that one taste wouldn’t be enough. I would want more.
  • I take a deep breath and run my hand through my hair, while my heart hammers against my chest.
  • This needs to stop. I will go crazy if this continues on.
  • Brayden is just an alpha and a helper. Nothing more.
  • He has come to our pack to help us with the rogue attacks. When he has figured everything out, he will leave and go back home.
  • My heart twists with that thought.
  • Suddenly, I realize my problem.
  • I need to get laid. That’s it.
  • It has been so long since I’ve had sex that I’m starting to think anything looks good. I’m sure if this keeps going on like this, I’ll find even a chair sexy.
  • I shake my head. No.
  • I’ll nip this in the bud before it affects my work and potentially the pack.
  • I pull my phone out of my pocket and start scrolling through my contacts. Hopefully, someone will be available. However, I need to stick with someone outside of my pack. I don’t like having any one-night stands hanging around me. It is cleaner that way.
  • Now, who can I call?
