  • Amanda was frequently amused by the identical looks that Ernest and his father would give her throughout the night. She was constantly surprised by how much Ernest resembled his father, both in personality and mannerism. She was taken aback by how much she had liked spending the evening with her in-laws and, with sadness, pondered what it would be like for her if her father were still living to be present at this meal and to accompany her down the aisle the following day.
