Chapter 6 Do You Still Have Your Eye on Me?

  • Instantly, the living room was plunged into dead silence; even a person like Susan who could adapt well to all sorts of situations couldn’t react immediately.
  • On the other hand, when Sebastian, who appeared to be impassive, heard what she said, his gaze turned razor-sharp as he glowered at her.
  • “Oh God, Hannah. How could you be so shameless? You’ve only known Connor for a few days, but you’ve already slept with him!” Stephanie covered her mouth, pretending to be embarrassed.
  • Unperturbed, Hannah stared at her and sneered. “Get your child aborted before you think you have the right to lecture me.”
  • “You!” Stephanie was enraged and about to scold her, but when she caught a glimpse of Sebastian, she gulped down what she was about to say. Taking Sebastian’s arm, she said in a choking voice, “Sebastian, did you hear that? She wants our child dead…”
  • However, Sebastian didn’t reply to her.
  • Growing upset, Stephanie stomped her feet and wanted to speak further.
  • Just then, Sebastian withdrew his hand from her grip and flattened the crease on his sleeve before saying, “So what? It was you who climbed onto my bed.”
  • Hearing that, Stephanie froze.
  • Sensing the awkwardness in the air, Susan hurriedly tried to smooth things over. “Alright. Stop it. We live in an open society now, so that isn’t a serious issue. You can make your own decisions, and we won’t interfere.”
  • Dispassionately, Hannah said, “Aunt Susan, can we talk about my mom now?”
  • “Oh dear, why are you always so impatient?” Susan put on a feigned loving smile and replied, “I’ve discussed it with your dad, and we’ve decided to keep paying for your mom’s medical fees. You’ve just landed a job, so you should focus on advancing your career rather than be bogged down by your mom’s condition. Also, ask Mr. Langley when he’ll have the time to come to our home. Your dad and I would like to talk about your relationship with him.”
  • She’s finally getting to the main point. Hannah sported a fake smile and replied, “Alright. I’ll ask him about it.” Rising from the couch, she continued, “Aunt Susan, I’ll send you a message later to tell you my bank account number. Don’t forget to transfer my mom’s medical fee to me. Bye.”
  • Susan was startled. “Aren’t you staying here?”
  • “I’ll be staying at my friend’s place.” Upon finishing her words, she turned to leave without hesitation. After stepping out of the house, she let out a long breath to vent out her frustration.
  • She didn’t want to meet those people again. By just looking at their faces and hearing their voices, she was so disgusted that she had the urge to vomit what she had eaten. Just now, she had tried her best to stay calm and talk to them just to get her mother’s medical fees.
  • This is what they owe us! When I become more capable in the future, I’ll get back even more from them!
  • Just when she was deep in her thoughts, she felt a few drops of rain on her face. Raising her head, she realized that the sky had turned dark. Suddenly, rain started pouring down, and in no time, she was soaked to the bone.
  • Why am I always so unlucky? Even the weather is going against me.
  • When she caught a glimpse of a coming taxi, she lifted the hem of her skirt and rushed forward without much thought. However, she didn’t notice that there was a black Rolls-Royce coming at her.
  • Upon hearing the ear-piercing sound of tires screeching as the car came to a stop, she turned around in shock and was dazzled by the headlights of the car. Following that, she was hit by the vehicle and passed out instantly.
  • When the luxurious car stopped, a handsome man got out of the vehicle and gazed at the woman who was lying in a puddle of dirty water. With a frown, he gave it a thought and lifted her off the ground.
  • After the car started moving, Hannah slowly regained consciousness. In fact, the crash just now wasn’t serious. She passed out mainly because she was aggrieved by how the Fairchilds had treated her, and that she was too shocked to see a vehicle coming at her.
  • Still in a groggy state, she opened her eyes and saw a man sitting beside her. “W-Who are you?”
  • After she asked the question in a weak voice, no one replied to her. It was as though she had been isolated in another world. She raised her hand to touch her head, but her wrist was immediately grabbed by a strong hand.
  • Just then, the car passed by a streetlamp, which illuminated the man’s exquisite facial features. His face was like a god’s creation—it was perfect.
  • Hannah caught her breath, for the man was none other than Connor Langley.
  • “W-W-Why are you here?” Her heart was pounding against her chest, not because she was excited, but because she was frightened.
  • Yes, I had intended to hook up with Connor and take revenge on Sebastian. However, after I got in touch with him, I knew that I was too naive. A powerful man like Connor has destroyed countless of his opponents. Certainly, he has seen through my intention, and he totally can deal a heavy blow to me. I should probably stay away from him.
  • At the thought of this, Hannah tried to get up to widen the distance between them.
  • “Stop moving and stay still. Otherwise, your injury will worsen,” a gruff voice was heard saying. His masculine voice was like a feather that was tickling her ears, causing her body to go limp.
  • Not wanting to offend this man any further, Hannah obeyed his order and lay back on the seat.
  • When the car stopped in front of a mansion, Connor carried her out of the vehicle and walked into the living room. “Has the doctor arrived?”
  • “Yes, he’s here.”
  • “Alright. Tell him to come over to check on Miss Fairchild.”
  • “Yes, sir.”
  • After Connor placed her on the couch, the servant came back with a tall and slim doctor a moment later. Upon dressing her wounds, the doctor turned to leave.
  • Hannah clenched her dress in anxiety, not knowing what to say.
  • Just when she was spacing out, Connor said in his husky voice, “Why do I always bump into you? Hannah Fairchild, do you still have your eye on me? Have you gotten your hands on my schedule?”
  • Hannah’s heart leaped to her throat when she heard that. “N-No, I—”
  • Before she could finish her words, Connor leaned close to her. As his warm breath tickled her face, she couldn’t help but hold her breath.
  • After staring at her for a moment, Connor raised his eyebrow. His chiseled face and dark eyes were unlike that of most other men in the country, and he looked like an exotic male actor from a foreign country. Hannah couldn’t help but be awed by his handsomeness.
  • Just when she was sizing him up, Connor curled up his thin lips slightly. “I don’t care if you’ve bumped into me intentionally. Since you’ve come to my home, I won’t let you go easily.”
