• Hannah wondered if she should go back into the room or wait until he left. A few seconds later, Connor bent down and dry retched, seemingly in pain. A frown creased Hannah’s forehead, for she had never seen him looking so wretched. As the president of Langley Group, he was usually dashing, cool, and calm. At the sight of his current state, something was torn apart within her, and she gripped the wheelchair’s armrests, turning her knuckles white.

Instantly, Hannah snapped out of it, then she went back into her room. Even through the door, she heard Edwin say, “I’ll take you to the car, Connor.”
• “It’s fine. I’m not drunk. Let’s keep this up.” Connor was already slurring his words.
