• THE PAIN OF REJECTION
• “Boss,” Daniel snaps a finger to my face, telling me that I have zoned out, which is damn obvious. I wouldn’t even dare denying it. I am engrossed in that woman. I want to turn back and undo ev4rything - call the deal off and free herself from being tangled to me, but the desire to do otherwise, to continue this, is much more strong that any other feeling. “I am right here, you know. Talk to me instead of talking to your soul. You are not okay, and that is as clear as the light of the day. What’s up?” He asks.
• I take a bottle of John Walker whiskey that rests on my side. I don’t even know how or when it got here, but I appreciate that it is here. It is as I would have loved it—icy and bitter. I put half a quarter glass down and gulped it down in one go, my eyes shutting as the coldness cut through my throat. And even as I close my eyes, her face is still so clear, staring at me with so much hatred and disgust.
