Chapter 35 Filling A Divorce

• When I heard my wife's voice and the sound of her footsteps, my heart started racing. How did she know I was here? Running away now would not solve anything, especially since this involved her best friend. I blamed myself straight away. I had put Chloe in a difficult spot. I needed to come clean before Nelly went into the room. If I had not been standing right in front of the door, I would have run off, and she would not have known which room I had booked. Why did I not notice her when I was downstairs? If I had seen her, I would not have come up here, and she would not have known about this particular room. Who could have told her I was here? Who wanted to destroy my marriage?
• I stood at the door and no longer had any desire to go inside. Let me sort this whole thing out here. I do not want Chloe to be upset. She is innocent in all of this, and I do not want to drag her into it.
